Shopify Theme Detector is now a free Chrome extension

We built a Chrome extension version of our Shopify Theme Detector and it is now live on the Chrome Web Store. It is free, takes one click and works on any Shopify storefront.

The web version at themedetectorapp.com already gets used thousands of times a month — mostly by agencies, freelancers and store owners who want to spy on what competitors are running. The feedback we kept getting was: this is great, but I have to copy the URL, paste it into your site and wait. Can I just click a button while I am already on the page? Now you can.

Install it from the Chrome Web Store, pin the icon to your toolbar, and any time you land on a Shopify store you click the icon and the popup tells you: which theme they are using (and which version), how many apps they have installed and which ones the extension recognises, plus a live product count and collection count pulled from the store's public endpoints.

Under the hood it is the same detection engine as the web tool — JS object inspection for the theme, script-signature matching for 65+ Shopify apps, and the public products.json and collections.json endpoints for the store data. No login, no API key, no data leaves your browser.

The extension is free forever. We built it as an extension of the existing tool, not a separate paid product. If you use the web version regularly, the extension is just a faster version of the same thing.
